A New Beginning

May 20, 2013

Being a Household Manager/Nanny/Personal Shopper/Chef/Housekeeper/Party Planner was a tough job but hey, someone had to do it, right? Well, this was the day I decided the job was no longer for me. Here’s a mini-recap of the day I quit my job and decided to form my own personal chef & event service business.

Mood: Energized, Optimistic

I walk down the cobblestone sidewalk, excited to get an early start to my day. The stars are my only companion on this early, humid morning. I’m to be at work for 6:30am but today I was going to be early. I check my work email on my iphone as I do every morning.

I’d avoid rush hour and cruise down the interstate, passing one or two other cars. Call me crazy (no, really, go ahead…I love compliments!) but driving in moderate traffic before 6am comforts me. It reminds me that I am not the only person in the universe who begins works at such an ungodly hour.
My enthusiasm immediately dissipates when I see three loading trucks blocking my vintage car and a bright orange parking ticket stuck to my windshield. It served as a nice reminder that today was street cleaning day on Beacon Hill. If only that reminder would have appeared in the form of a darn street sign when I parked my car on Sunday!

Anyway, I’ll skip the boring details and just tell you that the parking ticket and the loading trucks were obvious signs-signs telling me that I needed to leave the job that was consuming 13-14hrs of my day. I had been unhappy for awhile but I just kept on trucking…until that morning.

So, here I am now. I have formed my own little personal chef and event service company. I don’t know what the future has for me but I’m excited to share it with you all!

Welcome to my kitchen, I hope you enjoy your visit
